Minimum Medicines. Zero Procedures. Maximum Recovery.
Meet Science-Based Ayurveda.
When most people hear the word Ayurveda, one image comes to mind : warm oil, trained therapists, long sessions of Panchakarma, and a thick folder of herbal supplements. It is a picture that has been painted for decades — by wellness resorts, tourism brochures, and unfortunately, by a large section of the Ayurvedic medical community itself.
Here is what very few people know : that picture is not Ayurveda as a medical science. It is Ayurveda as a wellness experience — pleasant, relaxing, and largely unrelated to the actual science of disease and its reversal.
The original science of Ayurveda — as written, intended and practiced at its highest level — is a precise, deterministic, evidence-based system of clinical medicine. It identifies the exact root cause of disease in each unique individual. It designs a protocol specifically for that person. It produces intended, transparent and predictable outcomes. And it requires no procedures whatsoever.
This is SBEBA — Science-Based Evidence-Based Ayurveda. And it is changing the way disease is treated across India and the world.
THE BIGGEST MISUNDERSTANDING ABOUT AYURVEDA
THE COMMON MISCONCEPTION
“Ayurveda means Panchakarma, oil massages, Prakriti analysis, and a long list of herbal medicines you take for months without knowing why.”
The truth is far more significant. Panchakarma — the widely promoted system of therapeutic procedures which is currently misemployed as the Hallmark of Ayurveda as wellness treatments and detoxification is the greatest evidence of distortion of the very scientific label of Ayurveda. In the current scenario the nature of cause-mechanisms of ailments and the nature of immune, digestive and metabolic status of patients demand a very precise and integrated approach of connecting different pathologies and handling patients by correcting and stabilising their internal environment. Panchakarma is contraindicated in more than 99 percent of all kinds of morbidities today and hence adopting them in unintended situation can emerge several health hazards sooner or later. Panchakarma is not detoxification or rejuvenation as public believe to be, but rather very intense and serious procedures to remove the intrinsic morbid elements from the body which when done in unintended situations would gravely disrupt the internal environment of the patients and can cause immediate or later complications and hazards.
Applying it to every patient with every illness is not Ayurveda.
Similarly, Prakriti analysis — determining whether a person is Vata, Pitta or Kapha nature — has become routine in modern Ayurvedic practice for treatment which also is a highly reductionist way of clinical decision making which is intended to be scientifically led by multiple clinical determinants and parameters of this science. SBEBA establishes clearly, from the classical texts that Prakriti is a major crucial factor to determine the wholesome and unwholesome factors to maintain health, life-span, innate strength and prognosis of diseases developing in an individual. Prakriti is neither a factor for diagnosis of diseases in a subject nor deterministic of treatment or medicine. Deciding medication for ailments on the basis of Prakriti is a fundamental clinical error.
THE TRUTH
The classical texts of Ayurveda describe a sheer volume of highly vast and complex knowledge of principles of practice of Ayurvedic Science Based Medicine which makes it difficult for modern physicians to rightly comprehend the scientific meaning and implications. The basic and Translational research by SBEBA has yielded solutions that empower physicians to cultivate their intelligence and wisdom within the standardised clinical practice of Science-Based Medicine of Ayurveda. This is achieved by establishing inbuilt standards to avoid treatment uncertainty, minimise bias in Clinical Decision Making (CDM), apply Ayurvedic scientific evidence hierarchies, and foster continuous, self-initiated, objective-based learning.
WHAT IS SBEBA?
SBEBA stands for Science-Based Evidence-Based Ayurveda. It is a systematic scientific approach to practice Evidence Based Ayurveda that is innately Ayurvedic Science Based developed by Dr. Remya Krishnan, BAMS, MD, PhD and Dr. Rajkumar, BAMS, MD, PhD — two of India’s foremost Ayurvedic physician-faculty- scientist- innovators after years of exhaustive clinical research and rigorous re-examination of the classical Ayurvedic texts. Rather than a rigid rule book, this is a deterministic, science-led, and precision-oriented approach seamlessly integrates Ayurvedic causal reasoning and clinical decision-making tools & methodologies with the unique environment of the patient.
WHAT CONDITIONS DOES SBEBA TREAT?
SBEBA treats and actively reverses virtually all diseases — with the sole exception of conditions that require surgical intervention. This is not a claim. It is the scope of what classical Ayurvedic medicine was always designed to address, now practiced with the scientific rigour it deserves.
Because SBEBA works at the level of root causes rather than surface symptoms, its framework applies across a broad range of chronic, complex and multi-system conditions:
-
Metabolic conditions: Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity, Dyslipidaemia
-
Thyroid disorders: Hypothyroid, Hyperthyroid, Hashimoto’s
-
Autoimmune conditions across multiple organ systems
-
Inflammatory joint conditions
-
Hormonal imbalances including PCOD and PCOS
-
Cardiovascular conditions
-
Respiratory conditions
-
Gastrointestinal disorders
-
Neurological conditions
-
Skin conditions
-
Liver and kidney disorders
-
Multiple simultaneous morbid conditions in the same patient
One of the most remarkable features of the SBEBA protocol is its ability to address multiple conditions in the same patient simultaneously. A patient with diabetes, hypertension and a thyroid disorder does not need three separate protocols. In SBEBA, one root-cause-directed framework addresses the underlying morbid environment producing all three — with minimum medicines and a unified therapeutic strategy.
ADMISSION FOR CLOSE MONITORING — NOT FOR PROCEDURES
IMPORTANT: WHAT ADMISSION IN SBEBA MEANS
When an SBEBA physician recommends that a patient be admitted, it is for one purpose only: close, systematic monitoring of how the disease is reversing. There are no sessions. There are no procedures. No Panchakarma. No oil treatments. No therapeutic interventions of any kind in a procedural sense. Admission is purely a clinical observation environment — allowing the physician to track the patient’s response to the SBEBA protocol in real time and adjust it precisely as the reversal progresses.
This is a fundamentally different understanding of what it means to be admitted for Ayurvedic treatment. Most patients and families associate Ayurvedic admission with a schedule of oil therapies, steam treatments and procedural sessions — sometimes spanning weeks. In SBEBA, there is none of that.
Admission under SBEBA is a clinical monitoring environment: the patient is observed closely, vital markers are tracked, response to the prescribed SBEBA protocol and the Scientific Nutrition Schedule is assessed daily, and the therapeutic plan is refined with precision as the body begins to respond and the disease begins to reverse. It is, in the truest sense, a scientifically managed recovery — not a wellness experience.
For patients with complex, multi-system or rapidly progressing conditions, this close monitoring environment often produces significantly faster and more accountable outcomes than outpatient management alone.
NO PROCEDURES. NO PANCHAKARMA. HERE IS WHY IT MATTERS.
If you have visited an Ayurvedic doctor and been told you need Panchakarma — multiple sessions of enemas, oil pooling, induced purification or intensive massage — you may have accepted it without question, because it has been presented as the core of Ayurvedic treatment for so long.
SBEBA takes a different position, grounded directly in the classical texts. These procedures were designed for very specific clinical purposes in very specific patients. Applied broadly, without precise clinical indication, they are not just unnecessary — they can be counterproductive. They are costly, time-consuming, physically demanding, and frequently produce outcomes that do not match the promise made to the patient.
In SBEBA, the goal is to reverse disease using the body’s own capacity for healing — guided, supported and precisely directed by Ayurvedic medicines and the Scientific Nutrition Schedule. The results, consistently, are faster and more lasting than procedure-based approaches.
THE SCIENTIFIC NUTRITION SCHEDULE (SNS)
The Scientific Nutrition Schedule
One of the most powerful tools in the SBEBA clinical framework is the Scientific Nutrition Schedule — a systematically designed, individually calibrated nutritional and lifestyle protocol constructed specifically for each patient’s unique morbid environment.
This is not a general diet chart. It is not a list of foods to avoid because “they are not good for your Prakriti.” The SNS is an active, integral part of the therapeutic process — adjusted and refined throughout the course of treatment as your condition responds and improves.
For many patients, the SNS alone produces visible, measurable changes in health indicators — long before medicines have completed their work. The combination of the SBEBA clinical protocol and the SNS is what consistently delivers faster reversal than patients have experienced anywhere else.
SBEBA VS. CONVENTIONAL AYURVEDIC PRACTICE
Conventional Ayurveda Practice
Conventional Ayurveda Practice
Prakriti (Vata/Pitta/Kapha) body type diagnosis
Unique morbid environment of each individual patient — precise and scientific
Panchakarma and oil procedures for most conditions
No Panchakarma. No oil treatments. No procedures of any kind
Long lists of herbal medicines, often without clear rationale
Minimum, precisely targeted medicines — each with a documented scientific reason
Inconsistent outcomes across different physicians
Standardised, reproducible outcomes regardless of which SBEBA doctor you see
Disease “managed” indefinitely with ongoing treatment
Disease actively reversed — measurable, documented improvement
General nutrition advice or Prakriti-based diet
Scientific Nutrition Schedule (SNS) — individually calibrated, therapeutically active
Results depend on the individual doctor’s experience and intuition
Results are intended, transparent and predictable from the outset
Admission = procedural session schedule
Admission = close clinical monitoring of disease reversal, no procedures
WHAT TO EXPECT AS AN SBEBA PATIENT
Your first SBEBA consultation will be unlike any Ayurvedic clinical encounter you may have had before. Your physician will conduct a thorough, structured assessment of your unique morbid environment — not your Prakriti type, but the specific internal conditions that are driving your illness. This assessment is systematic, objective and scientifically documented.
You will leave the consultation knowing three things clearly: what is happening in your body and why; what the SBEBA protocol prescribes and the precise scientific reasoning behind it; and what outcome to expect and over what timeframe. There is no mystery, no unexplained ritual, no list of things to do “and trust the process.” Just clear, accountable clinical science.
If your condition warrants close monitoring, your physician may recommend a period of admission — not for procedures, but for the SBEBA team to observe your reversal in real time, track your response to medicines and the SNS, and refine your protocol with precision as you progress.
ADMISSION FOR CLOSE MONITORING — NOT FOR PROCEDURES
Free Online Treatment for Infectious Fevers
A SPECIAL INITIATIVE FROM THE SBEBA COMMUNITY
Provided by SBEBA Volunteer Doctors — At No Cost, For Everyone
In a remarkable expression of the SBEBA community’s commitment to public health, the SBEBA Institute of Finishing Studies has launched a free online support initiative dedicated to the treatment and reversal of infectious fevers using the SBEBA clinical protocol.
The initiative is simple: if you or a family member is suffering from an infectious fever — viral, bacterial or of unknown origin — you can reach out to a SBEBA volunteer doctor online, at no cost, and receive a personalised SBEBA-based treatment and nutritional protocol to help your body reverse the infection faster, more safely and more effectively.
Why Infectious Fevers?
Infectious fevers are one of the most commonly mismanaged conditions in India. The default approach — heavy antibiotics, multiple antipyretics, suppression of the fever response — often disrupts the body’s own immune mechanism, prolongs recovery and leaves the patient weakened. The SBEBA approach respects the fever as a physiological process, supports the immune system through the scientifically targeted SBEBA protocol, and facilitates faster, cleaner recovery without unnecessary medicinal loading.
How the Free Online Support Works
-
Who is eligible: Anyone suffering from an infectious fever, anywhere in India.
-
How to access: Contact the SBEBA Institute via the WhatsApp number or email provided at iafsindia.com. A SBEBA volunteer doctor will be allocated to your case.
-
What you receive: A personalised SBEBA treatment protocol and Scientific Nutrition Schedule for your specific presentation — designed to support your recovery at home.
-
What it costs: Nothing. This is a fully free community service offered by SBEBA-trained volunteer doctors as a commitment to public health and to demonstrating the power of SBEBA’s science in acute conditions.
-
Follow-up: The volunteer doctor will follow your progress online and adjust the protocol as needed through the recovery period.
Note to the Public:
This free service does not replace emergency medical care. If a patient presents with a fever that involves complications requiring hospitalisation or urgent medical investigation, the SBEBA volunteer doctor will advise accordingly. The initiative is designed for uncomplicated infectious fevers managed at home.
A WORD BEFORE YOU DECIDE
We understand that choosing a medical approach — particularly when you have been living with a chronic condition for years — is not a small decision. You may have tried many things. You may have experienced disappointment. You may be sceptical of yet another claim about Ayurveda.
That scepticism is not just understandable — it is the right starting point. SBEBA does not ask you to believe. It asks you to sit with one of our physicians, understand the scientific reasoning behind your diagnosis and treatment plan, and make an informed decision. If the explanation makes sense — if the science is clear, the logic is sound, and the protocol is transparent — then trust what you can verify.
Ayurveda — true Ayurveda, practiced as its founders intended — has always been capable of delivering precisely this. SBEBA is that Ayurveda, practiced today in its most scientifically rigorous and accountable form.
